We’re Erin Mohr and Seth Mazow, two twenty-somethings who decided to leave our business casual clothing and daily routines behind to spend several months traveling the world. We met at college in 2000 and have been amusing, inspiring and infuriating each other ever since.
The name of our blog was inspired by a conversation that Seth had with his friend Doug just before we departed for New Zealand. After he had relayed the story of how we managed to amass a pile of flight vouchers and and an upgrade to business class from San Francisco to Sydney over a period of six days (see the first post for the details), Doug said, “I have three words for you…the road provides.” We had been struggling to come up with an appropriate name for a while but knew right away that Doug had just named our blog. Little did he know, he had also helped us to articulate something important about the spirit in which we’re trying to travel.
For us, “the road provides” is about believing that what we need is out there, even if it might not show up in the form we originally imagined. It’s about trusting people and being flexible enough to embrace the surprises that travel inevitably brings. Some surprises are positive, some are negative, but they all teach us more about ourselves, each other and the world. In addition, they often make pretty hilarious stories in hindsight, even if we may not be able to see the humor while we’re in the heat of the moment.
We hope that the blog enables us to share some of these stories with you.

Hello—I emailed you a week ago about my son and his wife who are about to spend 6 mos. doing what you have done with your travels. I am a student of Erin’s Aunt Jenny (Pilates training) in Los Gatos, CA., and she mentioned your travels when I told her about my son’s. She emailed me your blog and I would love to get you in touch with my son (Conor Boyle) and hi wife Cara. They are leaving on their adventure on Sept 3 and are going to many of the places you have been, so I was hoping you could give them some tips and recommendations. They will be on a budget and will appreciate some advice on where to stay….
If this is okay with you, please contact Conor at this address: cboyle@salesforce.com and please copy Cara at cara@sanfranciscolegal.com.
Thank you very much.
